The trend towards e-mobility is also leading to new development challenges. In addition to air conditioning the vehicle interior, the temperature of the high-voltage battery, drive components and power electronics is now also controlled. Today’s thermal management systems coordinate the entire heat balance within the vehicle. Significantly more complex and interconnected refrigerant and cooling water circuits with an extended range of functions lead to highly networked system control loops with corresponding cross-influence. This must be taken into account in the design and development of components and systems as well as in the operating and control strategy. We pursue a holistic approach from the outset and utilize the synergies from our system and function control expertise. We call this the “coupling of system & function”.
